UX Exchange

UX Exchange is a stack exchange site for User Experience design. Looks like a pretty good resource for getting and providing solutions. (Thanks atariboy)

Thanks for the heads up, Keith - I didn't know about UX Exchange either.

Sites like this and IxDA intrigue me because of the user experience challenge they themselves provide. I used to try to keep up with IxDA posts via RSS but there's just way too many. (UX Exchange doesn't provide an RSS feed. Are they thinking I'll just wander along and check it a few times a day?)

Plus, while I've got a keen interest in such sites when I want to have a question answered, they are pretty low priority for me at other times. Any answering of questions I do is seriously out of the goodness of my own heart. I used to do this a fair bit on IxDA but it was so time consuming and quite unrewarding.

I suspect this means most questions are answered by a small clutch of enthusiastic contributors - not necessarily the most qualified respondents.

I imagine I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'd love to see a novel solution to the problem but suspect it's just the way social sites like this are.

I understand. Still, most wikipedia contributions come from a very small active community, and that works, so maybe this could be the same.

You make a very good point. I just don't know that it is actually working in the case of IxDA for example. Maybe there's something different about Wikipedia. Maybe it's widespread use makes people more enthused about working on it; maybe there are more retired people (I'm guessing they make up a large chunk of seriously productive Wikipedia contributors) for general knowledge than user experience; maybe there's too many competing sites when it comes to UX etc etc.
