Starting an Email with a Leftover Reply

Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

Ever get an email in your Inbox, particularly from a new computer user which was obviously just a reply to a previous, and completely unrelated, email you had sent them?

Why is this? Why is it more comfortable to do this?

Google now has auto-adding of contact details based on previous emails, which is a nice, and obvious improvment for email systems.

But what interests me: are people are thinking about the person first, rather than the 'email', that is "I need to send Jane an email" rather than "I need an email. Now I'll address it to Jane"? What if the UI was more focussed on people, rather than emails?
